She's Alive!

It's been nearly two years since I published ANYTHING and well over a year since I touched this website--it's so nice to be back! I started a new dayjob in February of this year (2026! as hard as that is to believe...) and my new boss asked if I could send him a link to my writer's website and, clicking through it, I realized that at least a few of the links to my stories were broken. So I jotted down Fix writer's website links! on my to-do list and...mostly just had too much else going on in life to really circle back to it. Til now! Honestly, a lot fewer of the links were broken than I'd feared--I didn't even find one, clicking methodically through the list, til no. 16, and most of the ones I did find that were broken, simply needed an url update. There were only two or three stories that were no longer available at all (also, apparently Google no longer does podcast as a direct application, now those can all be found on YouTube--I pay NO attention to stuff like this in the world, clearly). So what AM I doing, writing-wise? What I always wanted to do, the whole reason I auditioned for and attended the very last and very superlative Taos Toolbox science fiction and fantasy writers' workshop--I am writing A Novel. (Finally!) Actually, I'm writing two novels at once, which absolutely everyone assures me is a terrible idea and I probably agree with them, but as it turns out, I have two very different mood states when I sit down to write that I can possibly be in and each of them corresponds to a VERY different story and, rather than try to force myself to write something I feel nothing for at all at that moment, it's far more productive (at least from a word count perspective!) to write what happens to be flipping my switches at that moment. I also found a mostly-finished-but-entirely-unedited short story I whipped out in a few years' past that I really, really like, so I'm polishing that up as well--perhaps that'll end up going nowhere, but oh, it feels so good to be back in the saddle again. 😁
